Melts or milts are the roes of male herring, often known as ’soft herring roe’. Rich and creamy, they literally melt in your mouth and are very good for you as they are full of vitamin D.
Occasionally, we offer herring roe (from female herring) - sometimes known as ’hard roe’. These are classic tiny fish eggs, still in their enclosing sac. All items on this page are frozen in a block. If you don’t want to use them all at once, allow the block to defrost slightly, separate, then freeze.
