Luxurious Beer Battered Skrei cod fillet steak with Chips
Skrei cod fillet steak, the ultimate and most luxurious fish and chips you can get. Crispy Skrei cod dipped in a beer batter to enjoy with a fresh made tartare sauce, minty crushed peas and chips.
What you’ll need
- 2 battered skrei cod fillet steak
- 1 bottle of Budweiser
- 250g self raising flour
- 1 tsp turmeric
- 1 egg
- Sunflower oil for frying
- Tartare sauce
- 200ml/7fl oz mayonnaise
- 3 tbsp capers, drained and chopped
- 3 tbsp gherkins, drained and chopped
- 1 small shallot, finely chopped
- squeeze of lemon juice
- 3 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
- chips and crushed minty peas to serve
Let's Cook!
Step 1
Make the batter by whisking together gently the beer, flour, egg, turmeric and a pinch of salt and pepper until just combined
Leave the batter to rest whilst you prepare.
Step 2
Make your tartare sauce by combining the mayo, capers, gherkins, shallot, lemon juice and parsley
Whilst the chips cook preheat a large saucepan of oil to 180C
Step 3
Once the chips are nearly ready dip the fish into the batter immediately and carefully place into the hot oil.
Leave to fry for 5-6 minutes until deep golden and crunchy
Step 4
Drain on kitchen paper and serve immediately with chips, peas and tartare sauce
