Herring tacos
Tacos with herring fillets in a Mexican salsa, a refreshing recipe with a Mexican twist.
What you’ll need
- 8 herring fillets
- 4/8 small soft flour tortillas
- 2 tbsp fajita seasoning
- 1 red onion
- 100g butter
- 2 tbsp white wine vinegar
- 1 little gem lettuce shredded
- 1 large ripe avocado
- 2 limes
- handful of cherry tomatoes
- 1 red chilli
- bunch of coriander
- 150ml natural yogurt
Let's Cook!

Step 1
Cover the herring fillets in the fajita seasoning and leave to marinade whilst you prepare the other ingredients

Step 2
Thinly slice the red onion and cover with the white vinegar in a small bowl. Mash together the avocado and lime juice to make a quick guacamole

Step 3
Chop the tomatoes, chilli and coriander to make the salsa

Step 4
Place a non stick frying pan on the hob with a drizzle of oil and get piping hot. Add the herring and cook for a couple minutes each side.
