Miso-Marinated Black Cod
Impress family and friends by bringing Nobu's world-famous Japanese dish to your kitchen. Miso-marinated Black Cod combines the rich and buttery taste of black cod with the sweet and salty flavour of Miso paste. Although you can prepare this recipe in less than 30 minutes, you can also marinate the cod a day before cooking to really enhance the combination of flavours this dish provides.
What you’ll need
- 2 Black Cod Fillet Steaks
- 150g Rice of your choice
- 2 Garlic Cloves (finely sliced)
- 100g Tenderstem Broccoli
- 1 1/2 Tsp Light Brown Sugar
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Mirin
- 1 1/2 Tbsp Sake
- 3 Tbsp White Miso
Let's Cook!
Step 1
Start by making the marinade. Combine the white miso, mirin, sake, and sugar in a bowl and mix together until smooth. Blanch the broccoli and set aside, ready to be sautéed before serving.
Step 2
Fully coat the black cod in the marinade. For a stronger flavour, you could put the fillets in an air-tight container and leave in the fridge for a few hours or overnight before cooking, however this method still has a delicious end result!
Step 3
Heat some olive oil in a pan and pan-fry the cod fillets, starting skin-side down. Make sure to fry the fish slowly and gently to ensure that the miso marinade does not burn. Fry each side for roughly 4-5 minutes, or until golden and crispy.
Step 4
Quickly sauté the broccoli in a pan with butter and the finely chopped garlic. Serve the miso black cod with your chosen rice and the broccoli. Enjoy!
