This picture is from the Palace of Knossos in Crete. He's holding dolphin fish - or mahi - which we sell from time to time. You'll find all these fish on the menu of most good Greek restaurants. Sadly, few of them will have been caught locally, because after 5,000 years of exploitation, Greek fishing is a bit of a poster boy for world fishing - there ain't much left. Fish farming is quite big in Greece however, which could be a pointer for the future. Despite this sombre background, fish is very important to Greek cuisine and if you'd like to evoke a few holiday memories, this selection should help.
